Our group will continue hosting courtesy community posts of adoptable cats and kittens on our Petfinder page.

Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to welcome new cats to our Community Foster Program at present.

As always, we will share spay/neuter and vet care resources with the community. All animals deserve compassionate, quality care!

We remain dedicated to the cats in our current care, including our own colony of community cats (all TNR’d and well-fed guard cats) and our own foster fortunes who decided for us that NLB Cat Rescue was in fact their forever home.

Believe me, I know first hand how many community cats in need there are. There are not enough rescue groups, not enough clinics, not enough available resources at present to make a difference. Our group consists of one veterinary tech/assistant trying to make a difference in the lives of cats in need. Unfortunately, one woman alone without support from grants, volunteers, fosters, fundraisers cannot alone sustain our rescue efforts. Until we are able to recruit help and raise enough funding to support our work, we are unable to responsibly intake new cats or kittens into our care.

• Share far and wide: Spay/neuter saves lives and prevents suffering! The more public education and support of this, the more access to veterinary care, including core vaccines and spay/neuter services.

• Support your local rescues and shelters. Chances are every single organization needs help in some way. Turn your passion for helping animals into ACTION. Most groups are volunteer based or one independent rescuer driven by the work. A kind word, a volunteer shift, a donation of one case of wet food can lift spirits. Rescue work can be solitary at times; it is nice to know that our work is supported.

• Please be ethical and humane to companion animals. Don’t feed without fixing. Don’t watch your beloved colony continue growing each season without seeking out TNR services. Please don’t believe that you cannot singlehandedly help community cats in need - any person can! Research clinics, local rescues, and be an active participant in the process. Foster temporarily while your found cat or kitten awaits adoption. Rescues are constantly asked to take in cats without the space to responsibly do so. The cats need you to be there for them, not just foist them onto a rescue already over-capacity.

• Don’t focus on the heroics or ego; the animals are what motivates each of us, in our own way. Let go of needing to be right, or outshine each other. Partnerships between groups allows us both to help more cats, together.
