Our Mission

North Long Beach Cat Rescue is a grassroots, neighborhood animal welfare group focused on responsible cat colony management, including trap-neuter/spay-return practices, procurement of medical care for community cats in need, and animal welfare advocacy for outdoor cats.

Established in 2023, we successfully saved over 30 cats on one neighborhood block during our first months, all through TNR.

In 2023-24, we found homes for adoptable kittens found during our TNR efforts. While we didn’t start out as a foster/adoption focused rescue, we quickly realized that our TNR efforts would often lead to adoptable, socialized cats and kittens who were better suited for the indoor life. We continue our foster/adoption programs, most recently becoming a PetSmart Charities Adoption Partner, with our currently available cats and kittens at the PetSmart Compton store.

In 2025, we partnered with the City of Los Angeles as an approved participant in their Citywide Cat Program. This expanded our service area, allowing our group to respond to the various requests received throughout the City. Halfway through the year, our group has independently provided TNR services to over 40 community cats.

Kittens and colony cats alike remind us daily of our passion for this work - and our work has only just begun!

Our Impact

North Long Beach Cat Rescue is dedicated to spay/neuter as the solution to the overpopulation crisis. Our group works to bridge access to veterinary care for community cats and kittens in need. TNR is a proven effective, humane solution to managing cat colony populations and alleviating the suffering of kittens born outdoors.

Our Promise

North Long Beach Cat Rescue was established as a community resource for outdoor cats and community members alike. Our group will strive to answer all inquiries received from the community, and will work to connect community members to partner organizations that can help, and provide the information needed.

Our Vision

We started this rescue as neighbors interested in the wellbeing of free-roaming, unowned community cats. Our Founder felt strongly that if no one else was taking care of the cats, she lost nothing in trying to help - and the cats had everything to gain.

Our group envisions a rescue network focused on coalition building. By working together with other local rescues, veterinary clinics, and shelters, resources are shared and teams are strengthened to help even more community cats in need.
